Best value for co2 (cylinders) 14 years 4 months ago #1

As the title sugests.
Ive started this thread to find out whats the best value on co2...
Im talking particularly cylinders - but feel free to discuss all-in cylinder plus regs deals too.
Here are the facts so far...

<!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="www.dryicetech.ie/">www.dryicetech.ie/ (formerly leinster co2) offer:
2kg cylinder: €60
5 kg cylinder: €80

Geoff and Paul (see thread <!-- l --><a class="postlink-local" href="www.beoir.org/community/viewtopic.php?f=23&t=7424">viewtopic.php?f=23&t=7424) offer:
3.17kg cylinder plus reg plus fittings: €130

Now I know that the leinster/dryicetech guys were selling the 5kg cylinders for €60 when they first came on the scene.
So they are getting them somewhere for at least that.
(I think they might have even been selling them for €50 at one point)
I know they are coming in from the UK cos the girl told me on the phone a few weeks ago, when they were waiting on a batch.
I did a quick google and didnt see anything promising.
If any one knows of any places in the UK we might be able to get these from, I dont mind organising.
(shipping might only be a matter of someone going over on the ferry [and i know there are issues with transporting these things]).
I havent contacted dryicetech, cos i wasnt sure if anyone else had approached them. (??)

The other possible avenue - is fire extinguishers.
Same as above... I dont mind using them (if theyre good value) and i dont mind following up any contacts people may suggest for buying a pile of them.

As far as regs are concerned, I dont need one, but i think the ones in mybeerandwine are pretty good value (@ €35) if they do the job, and I dont know whether you will beat that on price.

PS: I saw a few co2 cylinders at the recycling centre while I was down WEEing my old video recorder. If the guy wasnt standing beside them - i would have thrown it straight into the back of the car. I think the cage they were in may have been locked though.

Leinster co2s 5kg for €80 is a fire extinguisher which they get from Dunne&Dunne in tallaght.
I had pick it up from there 2 weeks ago, maybe they are linked somehow..
leinster co2 charge 30 to fill 2, 5 and 7 kg cylinders.. one price for all which seems a bit odd to me...

Didnt know that they were all fire extinguishers that they were selling i thought that may have been a once off thing cos its all they had.
Has anyone approached D&D or leinster(now dryicetech) about a group buy?

The amount of co2 doesnt really matter to them id imagine its just a piss in the ocean to what they have.
Id say the charge is just a service charge for hooking the thing up.
