Re-badging/branding irish craft beer with a pub's name 14 years 8 months ago #19

I would suggest that the model works like this:

1. The bar wants its own brand craft beer - out of vanity or whatever and may therefore pay a subsidy to introduce the beer to the G/H/B drinkers

2. Said drinkers get to realise that there is life out there other than G/H/B and may want to try other beers

3. Maybe bar then trys another different style of craft beer

4. Said drinkers realise that there are [u:2a5gmk85]different styles [/u:2a5gmk85]of beer available.

5. Bar then stocks the greater range of ICBs under their own name/brand

Just my take on this

Cheers

We never did find out where Murray's ale was brewed (as served in Murray's of O'Connell street, Dublin and also in Pifko). And there is a "Harlow's Lager" on tap in JJ Harlow's in Roscommon town but when I quizzed the barstaff they were not sure but thought it might come from Tipp (maybe White Gypsy) despite Hooker brewery being just up the road. I'll be in there one a few occasions in the next 2 weeks as I'm on the holiers down there!

I think Hooker are probably at capacity no? They are still only 650l batches as far as I know.

White Gypsy is probably right.

Hooker with just a 650L capacity, jasus those lads most being supermen. They should take the spent grains and make breakfast cereal bars with it,launch it on Dragons den.

We did, it's Czech. The name is on the forum somewhere.

Edit: it is apparently[/url:xh3da2te] one of the Chotěboř range, either the 10° Originál or the 12° Prémium.

Why doesn't the pub just brew their own? We need another brew pub in Dublin.

Otherwise, I agree with those who say that they should get a brewery to contract brew for them (Beoir can help provide the spec if they don't know what they are looking for). This works well for both sides- The pub gets their unique branded beer and the brewer gets a commitment to purchase X litres.

Or there could be a business opportunity for a new brewer, that uses the same marketing model as De Braams water- Just produce one product but bottle/label it for each establishment; obviously each establishment would have to commit to purchasing a specific quantity in order to get the beer badged.
