If you want it custom fit for your vessel please give dimensions of the vessel height and diameter, also if it has an element in it tell me approximately how high the top of the element is so that the bag does not touch off it and burn a hole in it.

Eoin mine is for a keggle - I havent fitted the elements yet - but i should be able to give you measurements later on based on where they are going to go.
As regards measurements for sucha bag what are you looking for - diameter and height of bag i assume?

Hi James, I have some kegs at home, so I can measure up for a keggle myself. Regarding the element if you want to tell me where it is that's great as then I can put the tidemark on the bag. I'm already doing the same for Eddieken but he has no element, in his case I'll just be keeping the bag off the bottom of the keg as I don't want it to overheat and stick or anything stupid. I'll also put loops in the bottom of these bags so they can be weighed down if wanted.
I'm thinking Eddies will also have 4 loops up the top so that his bag can be hung on something as I don't want it draped down the sides with his as he is using gas and I don't want the plastic melting with the hot gases shooting up the sides of the keggle.

Hey man,

At the minute im not fully set up for BIAB (no element) so I would just need a bag to fit the standard Youngs 25l fermenter

So i suppose mine should be about 4 or 5 inches shorter than eddies.

I'd be interested in a BIAB bag. But I'm wondering if anyone here has ever tried doing a 10 gallon BIAB batch. To avoid the problem of having to have arms of steel or a large pulley system how about the following method.

1. Get your mash going with an elevated boiler/bag.
2. When mashing is done empty the wort into another vessel or a couple of buckets.
3. Use a small pot to scoop the grains out of the bag until the bag is light enough to lift.
4. Transfer the wort back into the boiler using a large jug.
5. Continue as normal.

I'm aware that there's a lot of shovelling and scooping and transferring liquid but this method would avoid having to haul a 10 gallon batch of wet grain out of your boiler.

I imagine your bag would need to be fairly well constructed to avoid splitting but if it's already being custom made then maybe that's not a major problem. Any thoughts on this or reasons why it won't work?
