Hopefully more breweries will sign up, and if they don't a good public turn out will probably convince them it's worth attending next year. I would also hope that The Porterhouse offer something approaching their full range of beer at this festival. At the Well they had only Plain Porter and Temple Brau which was disappointing.

Might there be too many beer events going on in October? <!-- s:D --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_biggrin.gif" alt=":D" title="Very Happy" /><!-- s:D -->

Quite possibly.

Porterhouse
Franciscan Well
Bierhaus Cork?
Bull & Castle
GIBF Galway

(I guess the PH festival is an exception as they only stock their own beers)

All October.

This has its pros & cons. On the plus side it should make it more viable for a brewery who wants to do a special festival brew such as Double Hooker or Carlow's cask stout. It would mean they can sell the full volume at (or to) a few outlets at more or less the same time. It may not be worth brewing a full batch for one event. On the other hand it must be hard to organise a presence at all these festivals with them being so close together.

[b:go35198e]edit:[/b:go35198e] I should note that the Well's October festival concentrates on imported beer, unlike the EasterFest. In addition neither the Bull & Castle or the Bierhaus Cork festivals require the brewers to be in attendance at a stand (at least as far as I'm aware).

The Galway drink list has been updated, by a bottled beer distributor by the looks of it. Still nothing Séan would get out of bed for, but at least a sign that it's a work in progress.

Hi all. the reason we decided on the end of october is to try to rob a bit of business from the PH. its a bit cheeky but theres alays good awareness that weekend in town, and both bars should serve as an overflow to each other anyway. plus both bars are two different styles, so if you're bored with one, you've got the other.
Cheers

Complaining about too many beer festivals? How times have changed.
It would be nice if they were a bit more evenly spread across the year alright.
