yes the woodforde kits are supposed to be ok ...as you need to keep it as simple as possible for the people who will only spend a few mins all you need to do is get the idea in their head and it will burn slowly...Im sure we all had the idea to brew a long time before actually brewing.

Then it's €27 per brew for quality 3Kg kits, giving you 40 pints. If you want to brew kit beer, that is the way to go.[/quote:roko1o6a]

that works or me maybe we should start pimping this set-up out at the expo, i also like the idea of someone who has never brewed previously being the brewer on the day for the expo.[/quote:roko1o6a]

don't forget to mention the wealth of information thats available here too.....all for the very reasonable price of €0.00

I appreciate where you're coming from with this but I don't personally believe we should be focussing on the cheap and cheerful approach as it will most likely look cheap and nasty. This site/community has always been about making good beer, whether with all grain, extract or kits - not just cheap beer. Showcasing beer in plastic soft drink bottles is sending out all the wrong signals, i.e. 70s student rocket fuel.[/quote:2cvv7pqx]

I'm leaning on this side.

In my own case I'm spending a lot on Kit ( by the time I'm finished I'll have spent maybe a grand overall )
But I'm getting it in stages , €80 eur one week , 0 another week . But I've worked it out , and I'll end up spending a lot less on beer over the next 3 years than I would if I didn't .

It is handy though to show people that a ninety euro set up ( which lets face it is maybe 2 nights in a pub) can brew up a grand kit beer , but we should be able to show as well that there's stages ahead of that that look sexier , or do more

Don't get me wrong here, I think the focus should be on the quality and taste of the beer rather than on the cost. And the last thing I'd want is for this to be seen as a recession busting tactic, or as a way for people to get drunk cheaply. I guess the bottom line here is that people who are genuinely interested will turn up, and these people will willingly fork out a bit for a starter kit and will probably like brewing.

Just a thought...

Can anyone bring a projector and a laptop so that there can be an information screen with a countdown to events. Like if someone is doing a brew, it can count down to the nest step, have bullet points on what is being done etc.

I'd prefer to keep things simpler than that, first time out.
