Brew It Yourself 2009: Cork, Saturday 18th April 17 years 4 months ago #1

Anyone interested in attending an exhibition on all aspects of homebrewing? With equipment sales, demonstrations, tastings and meet-the-experts sessions?

Yeah? Great.

Now, anyone interested in running one?

The Franciscan Well have said that they would be willing to host something along these lines in the near future. I'm thinking, vaguely, of having tables in the marquee with demonstrations of the different sorts of brewing, tasting of different styles, information packs on how to brew -- that kind of thing. Maybe run over a Friday and Saturday evening, maybe in February or March?

Since admission would be free, and we're in a licensed premises, I [i:3g5c3uyp]think[/i:3g5c3uyp] the legal side would be covered. But we'd get that sorted out early on.

It's all still very vague. But one thing's for sure, if we were to do it we would need People. Lots of People. At least ten volunteers, I'd have thought, and several cars.

So. Anyone interested? Is it even worth pursuing further?

Well, I think that February or March is a little ambitious, going on past experience trying to organise a get together, but I would be up for volunteering. I can provide beer, brewing equipment and my services as an enthusiastic advocate of brewing, but I cannot help with transport.

I've got some wheels and similar enthusiasm. We'll have to see how it works out.

Point taken about the timing. I was thinking about doing it before the St Patrick's Day/Easter thing kicks off, but leaving it to later is probably more practical. May? Bank Holiday weekend?

I'd be willing to lend a hand in whatever capacity is required. If it's Cork it's more convenient to me, but wherever it is I'll do me best to make it along.

I had thought accommodation for us out-of-towners might have been a problem, but at least that's that sorted. Thanks.

I call top bunk!
