[quote:1xx9mlcs]I was thinking this sort of thing would be better on a one-to-one basis: people will have different levels of knowledge and experience, so I reckon talking to them individually would be far better than making them all sit and listen to one of us standing up and reading out an ICB article on brewing.

I dunno a quick demo of how to make a kit brew might be good when a load of interested people are there. Not actually doing it but just showing all the equipment and the steps to people at once might be an idea.

It would save us having to tell the same thing to everyone there. Then after people can ask questions.

I just think that the crowd will be a bit more fluid* than that. But if it looks like a possibility at any point, then we should definitely do it. Er, assuming one of us wants to.

i was thinking that we maybe could do an extract brew there, not in a get up in front of everyone and tell them how to do it way but just kinda in the background so that any ppl who may be there will be able to see just how easy brewing beer actually is, it's a little more advanced than kit brewing i know but the boiling wort and malty smell might intrigue ppl and get them asking questions about the process.

either way i think a bottling demo might be a good idea. every non brewer i meet seems fascinated by the fact that old beer bottles can be used again and that i without the aid of any giant guinness type machines can actually get the cap on them.

Does anyone have the means for putting together a BIY beer? The difficult bit as far as I see it is transporting the newly fermenting wort out at the end, unless you got permission to leave it in the Well's brewhouse and bottle it there.

Maybe , might have enough bits and bobs together by then .....

as long as i get a parking space i can transport all the necessary equipment into the well and get a brew out of the place.

i might not be inclined to put the yeast into the wort until i get home though. as it would be less messy that way.

if someone could suggest an easy recipe that smells georgeous i could order the ingredients before the day. also a hose to connect to my wort chiller would be great.

it would be nice to have a collaborative ICB Event Brew. i'm sure we could arrange for some bottles to make their way to dublin for a tasting session too.
