If you want to schedule a cider-for-idiots demo at some point, feel free. Though it'd be best to do it when there's enough of an interested crowd rather than at a pre-arranged time.

So, aside from beer, we'll need to bring some kit for show and tell. I can bring a bucket full of basics, but could someone else bring a mashtun, a pressure barrel, a carboy and anything else that might be useful but not too complicated.

What do you think three books?

Radical brewing by randy Mosher
Designing Great Beers by Ray Daniels.
First Steps in Winemakingby C J Berry (or is this too 70's?)

If we decide on a bibliography ill do up the hand out.

I swear by Palmer's How to Brew.

What demos could we do?

How to taste beer
Matching beer and food
Idiots cider
How to brew
how to run a blind tasting

Any other ideas? We can decide later if they are any good and who would do them etc.

"a_friend_in_mead":13z0etjm wrote: Matching beer and food[/quote:13z0etjm]Ditto. And there won't be any food.

"a_friend_in_mead":13z0etjm wrote: Idiots cider[/quote:13z0etjm]Yep -- great idea. Reckon it can be done in under two minutes?

"a_friend_in_mead":13z0etjm wrote: How to brew[/quote:13z0etjm]I was thinking this sort of thing would be better on a one-to-one basis: people will have different levels of knowledge and experience, so I reckon talking to them individually would be far better than making them all sit and listen to one of us standing up and reading out an ICB article on brewing.

"a_friend_in_mead":13z0etjm wrote: how to run a blind tasting[/quote:13z0etjm]Not really relevant to home brewing.

Good idea as people probably will be going to the bar and such so they can pop in and out to ask specific questions
