In case anyone was wondering: Celebration Stout + DIPA = party in my mouth!

Celebration Stout is too strong alcohol-wise for me I think. There's a few stouts like that and the Brooklyn Choc Stout where the %ABV sorta puts me off. Maybe it [i:5el8it7g]is[/i:5el8it7g] the taste but I think it's the alcohol content.

Alan,

I think we're both on the same page with both beers. Brooklyn Choc DOES have too much alcohol burn for me.

-The Celebration Stout I think it something else though; the background flavor a few seconds after you take a sip seems different to me.. I'd say it tastes like when I accidentally fermented a beer way too warm, but I'm sure they have really great temp controls so I don't know what to call it. Maybe just too much roast barley, I really can't place it...

Then again, maybe it is the higher alcohol plus the fact that it's really dry. Most of the higher alcohol beers that I've had are sweeter so maybe the sweetness helps to hide the alcohol...

Molly's Chocolate Stout is as underwhelming out of a bottle as it is on tap. Even take away the "Chocolate" in the name and taking it staight up as a stout and it's just doing nothing for me. I think I'd choose bottled Guinness over this.

I was pretty underwhelmed by Molly's as well. Brooklyn's one I really wanted to like, because there lager is one of my absolute favourites, but it's just got a bit too much alcohol for my liking. Haven't had a chance to try celebration yet because of exams and whatnot, but if you lot have left any behind you I'm looking forward to getting to it at some point.
