Most of them don't have the time/energy/money to spend on checking beer temperatures. And like was said already, it's hard enough getting a pub to stock your beer without also making demands regarding temperature. Remember, higher temperature = more wastage.

Do Beoir?

Nobody has indicated that they think pale ales and other styles are too cold.

So we're talking about stouts, right?
And why is stout served so cold? Because of the push for Guinness Extra Cold.
And where did that come from? Diageo's fear of losing market share to lager.

If a consumer advocacy group shouldn't influence serving temperature, an advertising campaign shouldn't, either.

So does nitro. One of the biggest evils to me when it comes to stout. At least a good co2 stout can warm up. I can't get rid of the nitro.

It's good to see we are haveing a healthy discussion.

2 points, I think I've mentioned before, that's been raised up again agian.

1) Guiness and other breweries are trying to brainwash us with 'extra cold' beers.
It's good that, as someone said, there's bars in Limerick, givibg people the choice of regular or extra cold Guiness.

2) The craft breweries advising on what temperature, their beer is served at. Dungarven and 8degrees already do this . If you you check their bottles. Mind you, their bottles are 'Bottle Conditioned' (ie fresh yeast is added into the bottle)

I think it was UpsideDownA, who said chilling ale, kills the taste. The temperature test is a good wee experiment, you could in the house

Just remeber that 8 Degrees is their longitude and not the serving tempoerature in Farhenheit! <!-- s:) --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_smile.gif" alt=":)" title="Smile" /><!-- s:) -->
