Being a real ale drinker in Scotland, for about 5 years now, I have gained some knowledge about craft beer/real ale

I'm just back from having a grand time in Dublin and other parts of Ireland. I have found that ALL the craft ale that I have drank, have been served too cold. They've been so cold that I've had to return them, stating why, and showing my Beoir and CAMRA cards.

Even the bottle conditioned beers from 8dergees and dungarven breweries (who state,bottles should be stored around 10oC) are stored in fridges (say around 5oC)

Can Beoir and the Breweries highlight this to to the pubs?

I dont understand returning a cold beer?! Leave it a few mins and it will warm up!

I was in Edinburgh last month. I found the kegged beers quite cold, the same as here. I found the cask far too warm but it was during the heatwave.
Too cold is better than too warm. Cold will warm up.

That said, many beers are sold too cold here.

People who try real ale,as known in the uk, for the first time, generally do find it too warm. This is because, they're uesd to their keg beers, eg bud carlsberg guinness etc served cold or even 'extra cold'

A good serving temperature Guide

6-8oC pilsner, weissbiers
10oC Summer ales, Saisons
12oC British/Scottish ales, Stouts/porters, barley wines and Tappist
14oC Imperial Russian Stouts

Stenghth should be taken into account, when buying bottle contitioned, eg strong stouts served at room temerature

So, are you saying that cask and keg ale should both be served at the same temperature? Does that happen anywhere?
