While coinciding with Arthur's Day probably isn't that important, it would certainly put the craft movement in the spotlight. People want an alternative to the stomach-churning commercialism of Arthur's Day. Myself, I'd go for a pre-Christmas date, maybe the 8th.

I know what you mean but the ultimate objective should be to convert the amateurs. The more of these guys that become barstool stout experts, the more we'll see local stouts in previously unlikely pubs.

I'm surprised you lot never got it together. Takes a visionary like myself to ignite the fire. I insist you raise a "TO MARIO!" toast in my honour as Festival Founding Father/Senator for Life.

Why bother? The whole idea is to create something Irish and therefore separate. We don't need an umbrella international group to tell us how to throw up a marquee and fill it with barrels of choice stout, lovely lounge girls and fiddle session music. Free entry with flat caps, beards, Donegal tweeds or Aran jumpers/hats. In 10 years time it'll be bigger than Arthur's Day!
