If everyone had a beer manufacturer's licence and was paying excise duty on the beer, everyone would be a commercial brewer.

Surely this is the point where we Co-Find the Beoir Brewery - operate it as a co-op

start of one end of another. I think if we want to get this going this year it will have to be under the radar. Nothing illegal or malicious just a few liked minded people comparing similar recipes either in a private dwelling or in a rented accommodation/venue.

Doing it at someones house must get around any problems?

If the money is the big problem, then let's just do a little risk avoidance and not involve money.

If we can find a venue willing to host us for free, then we don't need to charge an entrance fee and everything is fine and dandy, right?

-If that's the case then let's fully exhaust that option before trying to deal with the more hairy options.

Once we get a free venue established then we can tackle the issue of whether or not to have some sort of small prize and how to handle that. If the pyramids of Egypt were built one brick at a time, surely these tiny challenges can be overcome in the same manner. (One at a time.)

I may be able to get a venue free of charge.
Which should remove the issue of payment.
It prolly holds 60-100 people, I would have to check out the insurance and run it by a comittee (which could be the sticking point)
Only thing is it would be in a rural part of Wexford <!-- s:roll: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_rolleyes.gif" alt=":roll:" title="Rolling Eyes" /><!-- s:roll: -->
