If it's done per unit, it shouldn't affect anything.

The Scots are proposing 65p per unit.

A taster tray with a total of 1 pint will have the same amount of alcohol units as 1 pint, all other things being equal.

I have a suggestion that wouldn't even mention alcohol, would be fair and would stop supermarkets selling below cost.

Disallow "customer quotas may apply".

First wind a rival offie gets of a supermarket selling below wholesale, they fetch the pallet truck and go shopping...

It sounds like the bold Roisin may be on the move after Willy Penrose's resignation, according to our national broadcaster.

Interesting development on this front.

I guessed that was why Ireland hadn't followed the same route yet- the government is waiting to see how it's challenged (and if the challenge is successful).

It's not so much that Ireland is waiting to see how it goes elsewhere, as they're not afraid generally to go it alone here, usually out of ignorance. Smoking ban, the euro, etc.

In this case there's a bit of a deliberate disconnect going on in government. Not all ministers are in favour of this, and especially as she's Labour there's an element of not being seen to have the tail wag the dog. James Reilly didn't tell her about the HSE chief leaving recently[/url:1czluabd], for a reason, i.e. to put her back in her box.
