Seriously though, have any of you considered brewing comercially?

I have considered brewing commercially and still am.

I feel I have a lot more to learn and financing would be challenging, to say the least, but I have every intention of going pro, if I can manage it at all.

It would be my dream job. It's just a matter of time before I give it a go.

Would love to, but I don't know half enough about brewing really, and have zero business sense, so there's no much hope there! <!-- s:D --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_biggrin.gif" alt=":D" title="Very Happy" /><!-- s:D -->

Speak for yourself.

I have a lot of different business plans/pipe dreams, but they all seem to start with the same step:
"Win Lotto"

eg
1/ Win Lotto
2/ Open brewpub etc.etc

or
1/ Win Lotto
2/ Try to take over the world

or
1/ Win Lotto
2/ Have house made out of fudge.

Number 3 is probably the soundest business idea. Given the state of so many new builds in recent years a house made of fudge would be a huge step forward.

What about setting up a very small scale brewery and selling bottles. Is a brewing licence expensive and what are the health and safety regulations for the brewery , excise duty etc.

Some small english micro breweries sell at farmers markets. Is this prohibited in Ireland due to Customs and excise.

Sean I would pay mnoney to buy your beer. Is this route possible.
Well worth looking in to , if start up costs are small. At Dun Daoighire farmers market David Llweelyn sells his Irish wine.
