You've got a point Oblivious, a registered firm would have health and safety issues if they were selling their own yeast slants.
Maybe I could take this on as a 'project' for ICB? Build up a bank of yeast stains over time, then distribute the slants to members as when they're required. Those members would then be required to financially 'contibute' to the upkeep of this site or indeed any other activity of the ICB group.
Is this something folk would be interested in?

Sounds like a great selection. I tend to use CaraPils a bit, it would be nice if you could stock it.

Do you intend stocking 25kg bags of any pale malts? or will they be possible to order?

As for hops do you intend to stock vacuum packed hops (leaf or pellet) and what varieties do you plan on?

Actually, this was something I suggested way back as a yeast bank run by members for members. Nothing too complicated like autoclaves etc, but if you had say a liquid yeasts and make a 6 bottle starter (as some of us do now and again) members could swap around a bit to try out different yeasts. We never "oficially" started it, but it might be an easy and cheap way of spreading the love.

Would be another good thread starter maybe.

That something everyone can get in on and the cultures are not all in one fridge in case it breaks down or the door is accidentally left open one night! <!-- s:shock: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_eek.gif" alt="" title="Shocked" /><!-- s:shock: -->

We intend to stock all grains listed from the start. Quantities yet to be decided. Carapils is on list. As regards 25kg bags. We can get them. Would need some indication as to which grains are needed in larger quantities. We are still amateurs at this so please forgive any mistakes.

We are ordering vacuum packed and pellet hops.
