Blackpool[/url:1pkl02eu] while a good play on Dubh Linn puts me in mind of a fairly old fashioned seaside town in the UK. I'm fairly sure it isn't a good association in this case.

Motto: "Black Pool Brewing Company: Good Beer, Good Company, Good Life!"
(Ok, my motto sucks; I think you need a motto thread next!)

Logo: Digital image of a droplet of water in a black pool. Optional: Modify the "rings" of the droplet so that it's a Celtic spiral some where between:

Agree with Bog Myrtle on the idea that "Black Pool" and "Blackpool" could get confusing..
Solution: make your moto and/or logo undeniably Irish so no confusion can occur except with the most drunken of individuals or the most stupid of Americans...
(I'm embarrassed to say it, but the top 5 dumbest things I've overheard while living here were all said by fellow Americans. (While riding the DART (Dun Laoghaire stop) and pointing at Howth: "Look childern, there's Scotland!..."))

Id agreee that Trouble is a PR mess waiting to happen, but I can see where it would have its edgy catchy thing going for it. I like the idea of having a name that you can play with (so if you call yourselves Random Brewers, then your beers are called Serandipity Lager, Random Ale, Chance Stout etc ad theasarus) so you should pick a name that you can pun on for a bit without reaching the levels just attained in brackets .
Someone chatted out on a previous post that small locally produced stuff is generally a bit more intimate and 'chatty', so maybe thats worth considering.
Finally, everyone knows that everone outside Dublin hates the jackeens so maybe not having a Dublin tainted name would be an advantage

Probably the biggest issue is thinking of a name that someone hasn't already used and is now kept in cold storage, unused except for an annual registration with the folks who license business ventures and trademarks here. For that reason alone I'd skip the Capital name altogether, since everyone seems to have their own capital of some district, and Capital Brewing is already used in the US, in Madison, the capital of the state of Wisconsin.

FWIW, Trouble Brewing is one I've not yet heard, and does lend itself to "clearly trouble," "deep trouble," dark trouble," "double (bock) trouble," etc.

First of all well done guys wishing you great success with the venture. I am looking forward to seeing it develop.

I think Saruman raises some very good points. I think you should defiantly choose something that makes it instantly identifiable as Irish which may prove to be valuable when marketing. With a little eye on the future this should be Irish enough for people in UK recognise but not ‘Leprecon brew’

I like ‘The Pale Brewery’

Good luck
