Could see the cock ale selling well in some pubs on Georges Street but I couldn't imagine many people going up and asking for a nice creamy pint of cock ale. I could be wrong.

Yes yes and yes!!

BUT:
Its all very well to go off on interesting tangents re. a new beer style BUT beer drinking is seasonable!

We like to drink the winter beers in winter and the summer beers in summer.

I worked for many years in Leiden, Holland. The beer choice was fantastic. My local was: ( Lemmy's bar[/url:3qm1zsgu] and there were lots of other bars in Leiden). Other than in the summer the beers were fantastic but during a hot summer even I couldn't drink the strong Belgian Singles, Doubles, Tripples and Quads!! Thank goodness for Hefe Weizzen and a lovley Green Appfel Weizzen.

Its too late now to suggest a summer brew ( probably the Irish summer has just finished today ) So what about an Autumn beer? ( lightly smoked Dark Lagery sort of thing - like Autumn bonfires ) Also its time to brew the Christams strong beers ( Spices, Alcohol in spades, Dark warming, fireside comforting ) ?

I'd vote for a Helles Bock myself.

(I've just finished reading "The Drawing of the Dark" so that might have something to do with it)

A good Imperial Stout
Double IPA
Oatmeal Stout
Wit

or something thats outside the usual

* Cocunut stout
* Pineapple pale ale (Used to love Spearhead from my time in Canada)
* Nutty Brown ale

I'd love to see an Irish brewery have some fun with their brews like alot of the north american micros do. The likes of Southern Tier with their seasonals. Pumking, Cre'me Brulee, Mokah....Fantastic beers, and something a bit different!

Something smoked, peat or oak smoked. Ale or wheat beer. Is there any smoked Irish beers?
