Hi All,

As a new member just getting to grips with how the Beoir Forum works and wanted to say hi to fellow brewers. As the name suggests we are a new micro-brewing company which has begun production of our first product which is called Sullivan's Traditional Irish Ginger Beer. With a unique refreshing flavour and 2% alcohol content it provides a nice well rounded balanced flavour with a good healthy ginger kick. We are currently organising our stockists so anyone interested in stocking the beer also feel free to get in touch or of course any ginger beer fans out there who are as excited about ginger beer as we are!!

Paddy.

Welcome to the site.

Afaik there are two sorts of ginger beer:

1 is a alcoholic ginger/lemonade drink made from sugar lemons and ginger

2 is a malt based, sometimes low in aslcohol, sometimes not ginger beer beer

Which are you making?

Cheers

Will

Thanks John I'll keep you posted with where people can try our beer in the coming weeks, and your right Will, our ginger beer is the first type you mentioned brewed with lighter flavoured lime and sugar ect, as oppossed to the slightly heavier malty type. We have tried brewing both however and found the best response to the first type that we currently brew, mainly as the ginger flavour seems to be stronger without the malt.

I like ginger beer but maybe this is just the student in me saying this but at 2% it seems bit weak no?

Hi There, ya thats been questioned before too, but the majority feel it's an advantage with the current alcohol laws and of course much healthier. Surprisingly the heat from the ginger helps bring out the alcoholic taste quite well, but failing that you could try some vodka in it!!
