Not officially <!-- s:D --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_biggrin.gif" alt="" title="Very Happy" /><!-- s:D --> 8°W, 53°30'N is the origin for Irish National Grid (and ITM), unless of course you are suggesting Dublin, at 6°W is the spiritual centre of Ireland (hah, even as Dub I reject that! <!-- s:D --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_biggrin.gif" alt="" title="Very Happy" /><!-- s:D -->), that honour belongs to Uisneach, the navel of Ireland <!-- s:) --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_smile.gif" alt="" title="Smile" /><!-- s:) -->

Isn't Mallin Head the origin or is that just for the height datum?
Yep, spot on, mean sea level at Malin Head is the height datum. They use the 8°W/53°30'N as the origin for the 2D grid coordinate system (the centre of the grid really).
