Because there's movement in the plastic it can suck the water out of the airlock into the carboy, which it did, when I was moving it about. It wasn't an awful lot but the water did contain a few drops of Milton so I'm a little worried that it might affect the overall brew. I suppose I'll just have to wait and see.[/quote:aguopf3t]
isn't this why vodka is the recommended liquid of choice to use n the airlock? If it falls in it's no real hassle.
The airlock I've got has 3 chambers either side of the u bend, I just fill the bottom chamber on either side, so there's little risk of the liquid overtopping inside or outside.
