Sure do, and they are not expensive. I can see all grain brewers justifying the cost in that it yields fresher grain, but I'm not so sure extract brewers can justify the investment?

Rolling pin and freezer bag - job's oxo.

KISS KISS KISS

Sugest to keep this idea nice and simples. No one who is moving up a gear wants to crush whole grains with a rolling pin!!

Supply crushed grains.

Will, we have adopted a whole grain policy . . . we are trying to differentiate ourselves here and also in UK retail on quality proper alu vac packed hops and whole grains. Our prices are more expensive for hops and grains, but not much.

Check out Brouwland, crushed grains are not available for homebrewers in Europe as far as we know. The reason is freshness. Can the whole of continental Europe be wrong about this?

We are Muntons agents for all their products including crushed and whole grain in Ireland. Supplying freshly crushed grain by the ton to a micro with full quality specs is fine.

But bagging it in smaller quantities and selling it many moons later to homebrewers is not something we are doing at this time.

OK, that's a policy statement, not a lecture!

I think we are all learning as we go, especially the suppliers. And we have great suppliers in Ireland.

We now have access to thousands of homebrew products here, already more than in the UK I think, and growing all the time.

I remember looking at a catalog from a UK supplier when we first started out a few years ago . . . . and thinking Jeez that's daunting . . . too many items to understand, and we can never stock them all. I just looked at their current catalog, its circa 800 items. We now stock circa 1600, with immediate access to at least as many more from all over the world. And many products are now cheaper here that in the UK. That's kinda coolio.

We owe sooooo much to this forum (ICB originally); without your support and encouragement in the early days, we may never have got going.
