WOW... just read down through the 3 pages of this thread... I can see everyones point but as Shane says the free delivery is not sustainable for anyone and will hurt the market in the long run by putting people out of business. Some people will crib about the price of something no matter what anyway so forget about the be-grudgers. I would say free shipping on a decent order over €50 would be a great thing all the time not free delivery on everything some of the time. Thats my 2 cents worth..

This is good from business point of view, the customer has something to aim for to get something for free. You have to earn your free stuff!
So, when you get up to €43 ya get something worth 7 euro extra to bring you up to free shipping threshold (thats a weird word when you go to write it ...2 h's doesnt seem right <!-- s:idea: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_idea.gif" alt="" title="Idea" /><!-- s:idea: --> ).

As i stated in my first post, i did not want to ruffle any feathers but i only picked the stabiliser as i am starting to do all grain brewing and this was recommended on various websites (including Mr Billings articule about Low tech brewing) for anyone starting all grain. I have no beef to grind with anyone but i will not be paying over the odds for items that are available cheaper else where. It's not as if i had to trawl the web to find the other price comparison, i just went to google.co.uk and it was the first page.

I also don't think Sean was looking to set up a forum were only a select few are allowed air any thoughts/grievances and the rest of us are to be quiet, Alex! Sorry Sean don't mean to speak out of turn, as i don't know you but as a beginner brewer Alex's post got to me (smacked of a bit of snobbery).

I got that as well eddie, I didnt realise being around for longer gave you different rights.
I have used all 3 Irish shops but also shops from the UK and will continue to do so as it suits.
My decisions will be allways based on value for money, as they are in life in general.

I fully understand running a business and the overheads involved (been doing it for 18 yrs now).
When I price work its the price that will get me the contract or not.

Simple bottom line economics, it's the way the world works, like it or not!

While I can see that free shipping isn't going to work in the long term, I think that €7 or what is slightly too high when you realise that you forgot to add a sachet of yeast or something small like that to the order. I agree that free shipping when an order is over €60 or something would be fair, but also graduated shipping for small items would be incredibly useful. Surely a sachet of yeast could be popped in the post for the cost of a 55c stamp.

Right lads, I'm not an administrator here or anything but I think we've caused this thread to snowball a bit. Lets just get back to the original point, "free delivery".

Fair play to the suppliers for doing what they can for the customers, and you never know maybe the couriers will take the hit instead and the customer & supplier win here. Keep up the good work lads, and play nice!!
