Yes, the focus is very much on the building itself, and any other "soft" information is usually dependant on the person who did the survey, although not all information is published on the site in the summary descriptions.
I'm not sure how the cities are progressing, but I can ask. It's a huge task.
We actually have all the published surveys in dead tree form, each of which comes with a CD, so I should have a look and see if there is extended information for some of the breweries.
Oh, and in relation to the OSI Historical Mapping, apparently there was only one digitised (in Dublin) as a point that can be searched for. I am pretty sure that the 6" maps did label breweries, but searching a raster (scanned) map for words is pretty difficult <!-- s:) --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_smile.gif" alt="

" title="Smile" /><!-- s:) --> I have access to the 6" archive, so if anyone knows of a brewery in a smal ltown that existed around the 1830's I can look and see if it's marked. In fact, it would be a nice project to get the old breweries on Google Maps, but would take considerable research. I've been wanting to add maps to the site since we launched (well, as a GIS person, I would!), but am still looking for a good way of getting user interaction for submitting stuff. That's for another thread too, but one such map could be Historical Breweries.
