Mid-Wesht Meetup, Beer Exchange and Roadtrip 14 years 2 months ago #37

The logistics are being organised via email which is handier.

There are several of us leaving Limerick at 1:30pm Saturday, staying the night and returning mid morning Sunday.

Some others are making their own plans to meet us at the Brewery at 3pm.

If you're interested in being a part of the first [b:274fl2v5] "mid-wesht brewers meetup, beer exchange and roadtrip"[/b:274fl2v5] then reply on this thread or PM me, or just walk around the festival looking for limerick, clare, & tipp accents.

Well, Well, I think the Well went down very well for a first mid-wesht meetup. We all had a brilliant mix of ambiance, taste explosions (Its so hard to rate one beer above the others), Education (thanks to the peter for the in depth tour of the brewhouse), wood fired pizzas, and a chance to have a laugh with some of the great characters that are the Beoir website. Not a chemical or preservative in site. I must have had 20 pints and no sign of a throbbing head in the morning.
Its going to be so deflating having to return to Pubs of mediocre beers. Driving up the Shannon with the family this afternoon, I stopped in Larkins of Garry Kennedy and ordered my usual mediocre Lager, then like a ray of sunlight shining on one small beer tap I read ... "White gypsies Red Ruby". With a tear of elation in my eye, I spoke up "Hold on there, change my order !"

To be fair most pubs these days at least stock paulaner or erdinger and i've been pleasently surprised at some of the pubs i've seen white gypsy on sale in so I think we are seeing the fruits of a demand led change in our pubs.

Also, I bet 99.9999999% of all Irish publicans would dearly love to be rid of diageo (long way to go yet but from little acorns grow great oak trees)
