Don't remember ever having to purchase a meal in any other pub after 10pm.[/quote:25hahyh6]It'll be one of those special event licenses with a "substantial meal" clause. Pub licences maybe a lot cheaper these days, but it's still not worth buying one for an eleven-day event.

They've kind of used the law to their advantage (and slightly bent it in my opinion) - alot of people will buy the voucher and not use it so thyere a fiver up.[/quote:1y5ifu0v]
Yep, same as the "rental" on the glasses, which the waitresses then go round collecting from the tables if you turn an eye away for a second.

I dont know what exactly the law says but i would have thought you had to have possessed some food at some stage[/quote:1y5ifu0v]
Only ever saw that in "niteclubs" when I was in college where they'd give you a ticket on the way in (free, didn't pay for it) and they'd open a wee hatch at the back of the club and give out some mouldy chicken curry. Think it was to get around some loophole of late licensing or something. But the "food after 10pm thing" - well I reckon it's totally unenforcable.... how can they (cops/organizers/aliens) prove whether or not you bought a voucher and ate your dinner? WTF?

I have to admit though, after all I've said, that I've sent the link onto the S&S organizers in work - free drink is free drink, tacky or otherwise. right? RIGHT?

Nah - anyone who gets in at say 7 or 8 won't be forced to get a ticket at the entrance - "Sure I'm leaving at 9". So then what - honesty system? Unless they maybe won't serve you unless you either have a voucher, or mustard on your chin...
