Heineken run lots of these identikit Paulaner Oktoberfests all over the world. There's been one in Dublin this last couple of years. It's really designed for big groups of men to get loudly pissed-up on expensive beer. Much like the original, in fact.
Meh, Octoberfake.
Went along couple of years ago, pure shite. Queue to get onto the floating bit in the dock was around the block. Haven't been back since. Best bit is the food stalls up around the outside, sausages, dumplings etc. MMmmmm.....

What's the name of those crispy fried bits they put on their hotdogs? I like those.
I always bring some of the Lads from the local along -lets face it its the nearest any of them are going to get to the real thing -unless they have one in Ibiza or some other God forsaken Spanish dump.
As other people have said on here the food they do is lovely and they have Gluhwein as well . If you go early or mid week you can avoid the big crowds ,but if you go later you will get more of the party atmosphere and the live oompah bands .
the Barmaids all are dressed in the traditional Dirndl and the guys in Lederhosen. Young women carrying four or fine masskrugs in each hand is well worth going to see <!-- s:D --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_biggrin.gif" alt="" title="Very Happy" /><!-- s:D -->
Together they usually get the crowd singing and laughing and most people seem to have a good time . Of course it's a nothing like the real thing but as I have said it gives people who would never travel to that part of the world a glimpse of bavarian food ,clothing music and beer culture.
Presumably you're talking about the IFSC one Kenmc. I wouldn't be in to queuing to drink with some crazy bankers either but it was quite enjoyable last year to head along when it was reasonably quiet on a Sunday afternoon for a couple of drinks.
