Thanks for coming out and sharing your beers, guys. And thanks to the B&C as ever for hosting. I think it worked quite well and I hope those of you who were interested in learning stuff learned stuff.
Delzep showed that kit beer really really doesn't have to taste like kit beer if done well: the Cooper's Stout had a lovely bottled Guinness roastiness to it.
Irish Party Ale's Pils had a bit more of a kit flavour from it, but was still tasty, and had a lovely soft carbonation. Let's have some bottled conditioned lagers Mr Heineken please.
Rossa's dodgy lager was a dodgy lager but quite passable as a tannic English pale ale.
Silenus's flat brown was quite brown and very very flat. Nice and caramelly, though. There was also a bottle of the strawberry cider in the basket he left. It's past its best and turning a bit marker-pen-ish. All of a sudden the contents of the stein went a bit pink...
Which brings us to marceldesailly's stout. It was lovely: wonderfully full-bodied, creamy and packed with roasty goodness, a bit like the Carlow Celebration, I thought. It'll be well worth the effort if anyone decides to scrape it off the beerhall ceiling, which is where most of it went when the cap came off.
