[quote="bigears"Good point. Modern day Irish Reds tend to have very little hop character. They can start a little sweet but they finish drier as they tend to use a pinch of roast barley and a neutral yeast compared to some of the fruity English yeasts. (Do they use the same yeasts as the Irish Stouts?) You sometimes hear that they are more like Scottish Ales than English Ales but I'm not too sure if this is accurate.[/quote]

Yea, the grist tend to be simple and originally would have longer boils to to develop flavors

I spoke with two of the crew last night, and they are really exited about tonight. This is the last venue for the Irish end of things and they expect to stay long after the camera shuts down , a wrap party so to speak.

I have organised a fantastic spread of nibbles for the tasting, but it wont be a meal, so tucker up beforehand.

I've been told that the general chat revolves around the big guys(Diageo etc) stepping all over the little guys, and they want honest comments on this. You boys can say what you like, whereas i have to bite my tongue for sake of working relationships with the big boys. I'm sure somebody will pass on my comments:lol:

I pressume we can rely on TBN for his photography skills ??

is anybody still alive after this?

Well that was all rather jolly, wasn't it? I'm still kicking myself over missing my chance to have a go at mass-market-beer-crapness in my bit to camera, but them's the breaks when you don't get to do any preparation.

Anyhoo, with apologies for the general crapness of my phone, some pics:
