All you need to do is make sure no-one who comes over is likely to sue you if they injure themselves or someone else.

What if you genuinely tried to operate this as a commercial concern , with say plans to franchise it and all .

Would the revenue try and classify it as a public house , if with no intention to sell alcohol , you allowed the consumption of alcohol on your premises .



I realise a club can probably circumvent it ( members can imbibe on a clubs premises etc )

Think about it though , a pub , with everything in it except alcohol ( which you can bring your self ). Might have some market for it.

Having lots of drunken liabilities around the place while not taking their money in exchange for high-margin drinks doesn't sound to me like it would stack up.

However - i seem to remember my brother, who at the time was looking at openning an off-license in the area, told me about a pub that allowed people bring in their own drink, in Kilbarrick - it was attached to the shopping centre.

I dont know whether they even charged for the service, maybe someone from that neck of the woods could comment.
