Oh come on. So you are saying that the extra cash would go to the retailers? No way! The governement would never field anything like this. The money has to go into the state coffers or it's a dead issue.

i think whatever they do will increase the price of drink!! before the last budget my local put up the price of Guinness by 10cent expecting a price hike in the budget(which never came) just so they could get the extra profit and make it look like it was the government. <!-- s:( --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_sad.gif" alt="" title="Sad" /><!-- s:( -->

that really annoys me when they do that. i know i felt like giving the barman an earful last time that happened in one of my watering holes but he didnt own the place.they are sneaky little buggers and will fleace us the best they can and just to top it off most up the prices at 11.30pm. drives me nuts. you dont see arestaurant upping their prices the later the night gets. (earlybird the exception)

They were talking about Sweden and how they deal with alcohol consumption on Moncrief today. Lots of conjecture but noone seemed to have any hard facts. I had a quick look on the net and the facts are out there.

I have only had a chance to have a quick look at the statistics, but this one[/url:17lmkywe] shows a, more or less (there is a hump in the 1970's), steady rise in per capita alcohol consumption since 1950.

Another survey[/url:17lmkywe] addresses the issue of Home made, smuggled, privately imported and illegally manufactured alcohol and produces figures that show that only 57.6% of alcohol consumed in Sweden is actually bought in Sweden, from a legal source!
