The Holyrood 9a is a great spot for a pre session lunch (or a mid session food binge) - not far along from BrewDog, a great menu full of interesting and delicious burgers and around 20 taps (both cask and keg) - excellent service etc every time I've been.

Plus, if you're looking to try a real cask ale haven, then Cloisters bar (ten mins further along from Hanging Bat) always has the best part of ten tapped - not always a groundbreaking selection but in amazing condition and in a really cosy old boozer.

Edinburgh is one hell of a city - enjoy it!

I did Edinburgh for my stag a few weeks ago. Good stag 'culture' around the city in the sense that they're tolerant of idiocy, and decent beer available on cask in a lot of places.

If you like whiskey there's the Bow Bar and the Blue Blazer. The Bow has a biggish international beer list- worth popping in, although officially they don't serve stags.

There's a tour of the Caledonian brewery (i think) available but to be honest our Day 2 'activity' was just watching the Lions match and starting early.

All added to google maps. Looking forward to it. The rotation taps in the hanging bat is very impressive.
