Beoir Awards 2013: vote now! 13 years 4 months ago #1

Voting is now open for Beoir's annual awards for the best Irish beers of 2012.

The rules are the same as last year's and are as follows:
[b:114sd3lm]Eligible beers[/b:114sd3lm] are any which are both:
1. Brewed in Ireland (including Northern Ireland), [b:114sd3lm]and were[/b:114sd3lm]
2. Commercially available in Ireland (including NI) during 2012.

This includes one-offs, seasonals, festival specials, limited editions and any other beer so long as the brewer is asking people for money for it. It does not include ciders, meads or other non-beer brews.

The competition is dispense-neutral: each candidate is only eligible once, regardless of the number of different ways it is packaged and served. Rebadges, inasmuch as they can be identified with any degree of certainty, count as the same beer.

Voting is open to everyone who is registered on the Beoir forum.
[b:114sd3lm]Edit 08/01/2013[/b:114sd3lm]: [i:114sd3lm]Unfortunately, due to suspicious voting activity, voting is now restricted to Beoir subscribers only. Apologies for this, it's not ideal, but it will help ensure that the end result is legitimate.[/i:114sd3lm]

[b:114sd3lm]To vote[/b:114sd3lm]: On or before [b:114sd3lm]4 February 2013[/b:114sd3lm], e-mail the names of your top three favourite beers, ranked in order, to <!-- e --><a href="This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.">This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. The competition will work best, I think, if you choose beers you actually drank during the year, but we won't be holding anyone to that. Remember, they must have been available to [i:114sd3lm]purchase[/i:114sd3lm] during 2012, however. And please include your site username in the e-mail.

In order for the vote to be fair [b:114sd3lm]you must name and rank three[/b:114sd3lm]. Votes with fewer nominations won't be counted.

After the deadline, votes will be counted using a positional voting system (numerical weighting, like the Eurovision) and the top three will be awarded prizes. In the event of a tie, the most first preferences wins, and if we're still tied after that... we'll figure something out. We could award more than three prizes, or set up a tie-break taste-off, or ask for another round of votes. It depends on the situation.

I'll sticky this thread. Please post any questions to it.

Get voting, and tell your friends!

Can we maybe crowd source an eligible beers list to try and remind us what's there. I tried to do it from memory but ended up with three beers I drank in December, surely there was good stuff earlier in the year.

Chameleon from Metalman, do we count it as one beer or do we split it into its Chilli, Ginger, Lime, Blackberry etc components?

So, who can list all the Chameleons?
