The wife got me a hot towel shave voucher for the local Barbers. Im as bald as an eagle and havent been to a barbers in years. I think it was in response to mentioning I might buy a flat cap!! <!-- s:P --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_razz.gif" alt=":P" title="Razz" /><!-- s:P -->

Be careful with that, I was looking forward to a wet towel shave a few years back the wife got me a voucher for temple bar, I was wrecked.

The best guy is an Egyptian guy in a barbers in the Blanchardstown shopping centre, he knows what he's doing.

My face was raw for days after the shave, I was so disappointed.

I went from the marketing hype to a cheapo gilette DE to a Merkur 34C DE a while back, got a pack of blades from somewhere - Badger and brush maybe? with Derby, Feather and generic "Israeli" blades. Found the Feathers to be the best. Using a generic shaving soap and brush from Boots AFAIK.

But more recently have been using a Babyliss beard trimmer to try and keep it in check - had been getting loads of ingrowns even with the DE. Still get them with the trimmer though so thinking of going back to the DE, even though SWMBO likes the stubbly look.

PITA shaving no matter what approach I take. Esp in summer when there doesn't tend to be hot water in the taps all the time, have to time the shave to after dinner -before dishwasher or washing machine steals all the hot water!

Hi Ken, do you use the alum block when you DE shave? It's well worth it, it's an astringent and an anti-bac at the same time and I used have terrible problems with ingrowns and don't get them at all anymore, that said I don't wear a collar at work.

No, must get some - got a link to one for me so I know what to look for?

Edit:
Never mind
just ordered one from shaving,ie as well as new sensitive soap, new brush and some more feather blades. Cleanshaven here I come again (well at least once a week anyway!)

I work form home so I only shave about once or twice a week. The big advantage of the single blade razor for me is that it won't get clogged up if you're cutting through a week's worth of growth. With the multi blade razors, the long hairs get caught between the blades and the thing becomes useless.

Also, they're way cheaper and I'm really tight fisted.

It's worth pointing out though that they do have a few disadvantages. The main one is that you can't have a quick shave; you'll end up cutting your face off if you try to rush it.
