Hmmm of course it's a craft, and a very skilful one at that, but is it what you want to drink, that's another story.
I think the issue is where the actual craft seeks to stray from tradition and produce a reproduction of something that uses a traiditional method by using modern technology to cut corners and drop production prices. I think the main difference is marketing and market research drives things that it is perceived the consumer wants, green bottles for presentation, disregarding the fact that green bottles are responsible for that ugly fart smell when you open the cap, just for an e.g.

The whole process of brewing is based on biochemical reactions, to say it's craft and not science is patently ludicrous. Can you brew without knowing science? Yeah, but you can't brew without science in action.

I'm just short of learning about molarities again to be able to properly treat my water.....I left that behind when Trinity threw me out for being a waster all those years ago.
