Hey Guys,

Im heading over to Muncih in a few weeks for the Oktoberfest celebrations and a had a quick question for anyone who has graced this fest before,

The tent which we are booked into for the saturday is the Armbrustschützen-Festhalle or roughly translated the crossbow firing tent (I think). The tent is sponsored by Paulaner, would it just be regular Paulaner which is available in the tent or will they have an oktoberfest brew on or even a selection?

It'll be my first time there so im a bit clueless

The main tents only serve the Oktoberfest beer and only by the litre. Though you can also get a radler (shandy) of Oktoberfest beer and lemonade, or soft drinks.

Im good with the Steins of beer <!-- s:D --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_biggrin.gif" alt="" title="Very Happy" /><!-- s:D --> , Was just really wondering what type of beer the did. Ive never really had Oktoberfest beers before (apart form the porterhouse), Would they be genreally Marzens or does it really depend on what brewery is brewing them

They're all very similar: pale Märzen-ish, around 6% ABV.

Looking forward to it, were booked in the tent from 4pm to 12am saturday, €29 which includes 4 litres and a chicken each is the only cost,

Headin to the Haufbrau Beer House on Friday, its probably a tourist trap but we'll see what happens, we're part of a stag party so I'll leave the culture to the Thursday when its just me and a friend on our own,

Any recommendations nof good pubs we can visit on the Thursday evening

You'll be expected to tip your waitress on top of the voucher price. I recall them being quite insistent about that.

If you're going back to the festival at all, go early: before 12pm if it's a weekday, before 9am on a weekend. But really, you'll get the full experience on just one night at Armbrustschützen.

There's a thread about Munich beerhalls on Boards here[/url:1x81tg1l] with some good advice in it. If you can steer people out of Hofbräu and into nearby Schneider or Ayinger it may be worth it.
