The Oktober fest beer is brewed to a "slightly" weaker ABV and natuarally a higher price.

The Hofbrau House is recommended and is not a rip off ( but I was not here for Oktober fest) Also look out for the Paulaner brew bouse - much smaller tha HBH lots of copper etc etc ( its a brew house!! ) probably also a few more brew houses to look out for. Munich is dead easy to travle around by the U-Bahn / buses just buy a day ticket.

There is also a "house of hundreds of beers" or something like that - sells bottles from all round the world but is VVV expensive

Lucky you going to the fest been a few times and would love to go back. If you are there for a few days you should check out the English Gardens (dont be put off by the name) great outdoor beer garden in the middle complete with Umpa Band playing in the tower. Also to continue the fun into the night after the tents I recommend you head to the Irish bars its where the best fun and the latest last orders are to be found. If you are there a few days you could consider a quick side trip to Salzberg by train if you need abreak from it all some interesting beer experiences to be had there and a good chance to get some early Christmas Decorations in the market there!!
