Have any of you ever done a beer trade? i know you all have amongst eachother <!-- s:lol: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_lol.gif" alt="" title="Laughing" /><!-- s:lol: --> but have you ever traded with a friend from another country? I am part of a micro brewery appreciation forum on <!-- w --><a class="postlink" href="www.myspace.com">www.myspace.com and i have been speaking to a guy from the US who has traded with people from Britain in the past. We are talking about doing a trade, i would imagine this is going to be difficult, he has yet to reply as to how he send them, but it would certainly be worth a try as i am keen to get my hands on some of the American IPA's and him some of our stuff. what you think?

On the local side there was a fair bit of trading at the tasting session. DrJohn suggested that we should have regular meets with no tasting, and I think that's a great idea. It would facilitate trading between ourselves.

If people wanted to send shipments abroad it could certainly be a group thing, so a variety pack could be sent. I'd be worried about the shipping though. Would have to be very well wrapped <!-- s:D --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_biggrin.gif" alt="" title="Very Happy" /><!-- s:D -->

Yeah Adeptus, i think thats a good idea. Its a great community we have here, so why the heck not! Im not brewing as yet, i know its going to take time to get anywhere near where you guys are at, but once myself and Bernard do it will be great to trade on a regular basis

I imagine the price of shipping would be a problem. It would work better as a group if we were to import a number of beers and share shipping cost - what would Customs make of it though?

Yeah i agree big ears, im open to anything like that. I think ireland is improving rapidly in the beer market, but being such an avid fan of the big hoppy American IPA's its a bit of a pain. if i havent had such riches i could live with being poor <!-- s:wink: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_wink.gif" alt="" title="Wink" /><!-- s:wink: -->

I heard the US Postal service don't approve of unofficial alcohol passing through their system. There are ways around though.
