sending beer internationally 18 years 9 months ago #8

I have done plenty of beer trades through the mail, mostly from contacts made on beeradvocate.com and some of them have been international. Technically, the United States Postal Service will not ship beer, but most American beer traders just dont disclose the true contents of their shipment or find another shipper who will do the job. Becuase shipping small packages internationally can be a bit expensive though (particularly from IRL) I would suggest looking into some sort of bulk rate or something as a group. Or we could just all take a cheap flight somewhere and fill up our luggage with beer!

It appears that US customs regard beer as a hazardous substance, which is why one leaky cask was enough for the entire supply of US cask beer on its way to the CAMRA Great British Beer Festival next month to be impounded.

Impounded eh? I wonder if they'll "dispose" of it?

There's yeast in that stuff. For god's sake don't get any on your skin!

Apparently, once the quarantine is lifted, the strategy is to distribute the casks to other, smaller beer festivals around the country. The same thing happened last year so they've decided to give up on American cask beer altogether for future events.
