Interesting. I don't put any personal interests on my CV as I don't think they are relevent to my work, but I'm wondering if I put brewing down would I get more responses from those German companies I sent it to <!-- s:D --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_biggrin.gif" alt=":D" title="Very Happy" /><!-- s:D -->

They may not be relevant to your work, but when I look at a CV and see nothing I think "that person is a boring twat, do I really want to potentially end up working with him/her?". Harsh I know, but when faced with 20 or 30 cvs, you have to have some criteria to whittle them. If someone plays a team sport it illustrates discipline and the ability to be a team player for example. If someone has travelling down then I know that they are open minded, most likely would be willing/want to travel for work, and are possibly used to dealing with different cultures.

But without a doubt the most ridiculous thing I have seen is under personal achievements: "I can finish a rubics cube". I shit you not!!

And I had to embellish a little too, I can actually only finish one side. But everyone lies a little on their CV, right?

I'd never put down anything about brewing or beer on a CV.

I'd imagine it being translated in a way that happens with personal ads, i.e. when a girl describes herself as "cuddly" it actually means "grossly overweight". Similarly I reckon that if you put down craft brewer or beer connoisseur the person reading it translates it as "pisshead".
