Thanks! I used to put my interests on my CV, but decided to take them off cos they made me look like a boring twat!
I tend not to look at their interests, but wait till I see the whites of their eyes. If someone has spent ages travelling it could also mean they are a lazy bum who didn't really want to work but now feel they have to cos they spent all of Daddy's money or something. But that may be harsh

I don't put any personal interests on my CV as I don't think they are relevent to my work, but I'm wondering if I put brewing down would I get more responses from those German companies I sent it to [/quote:1tim0y9h]
Maybe you should have stated you would never used cereal or sugar adjutants in your beer
Is that beer on your CV?

Of course, you brewers have it easy, 'cos that's really a proper hobby. But does your, shall we say, "commercial research" appear in your "Interests & Activities" section?[/quote:2vae3o1o]
I put "Zymurgy" in my Interests section of my CV. It gets one of two responses at interview, either:
1. What the hell is Zymurgy?
2. We had to look in 3 dictionaries before we found out what zymurgy meant.
To which my reply is clarification that I brew my own beer at home, but I do it from scratch using the raw ingredients and I believe that not only is the end result well worth the extra effort but the process is fascinating and enjoyable too. The response is usually genuine interest and often an anecdote about some disastrous story involving some home made alcoholic beverage from their past.
In at least two cases I think it has actually helped me get a job offer because the interviewer wanted to know more...
