Well we've gone from one of the worst lagers to one of the best, starting at Corona, gravity has dragged us away from the crap and moving to to Koestritzer et al to the real stuff....

Great line Atticus! Very true.

Yep, good analogy. I love lager. But, as I keep saying, I have little choice now

Just like any other type of beer, there's plenty of shit about, even -- or rather especially -- in Germany. But there are definitely lots of real gems waiting to be discovered.

My favourites include Koestritzer, Herren Pils, Mahr's, some of the Pinkus stuff. And sure what about all that lovely Märzen, like Schlenkerla? It's a lagerbier after all. It's the Euro-pils (and corona ) type stuff that helps give lager a bad rep.

But I do like a pint of Stella now and again. It's one of my guilty pleasures

I'm a big fan of Warsteiner, Veltins, Koenig Pils, in fact Koepi would be my favourite of all time, although Koestritzer is a close second.
I suppose the ones I mentioned are also the heavily marketed big three, but in fairness they are good and I'm not travelled enough to cite some smalltown brewery marke as the one I like best I simply don't know them.
I wasn't a particular fan of Jever although I have visited the brewery, I think nowadays though I'd be more into the hoppiness of Jever.

I really like Koenig Pils[/url:d6qnjt0q]. I used to love Warstener when I first started visiting Germany, but I haven't had it in ages. Veltins is really popular in this area, but I'm not a huge fan. I'll take Hoevels if it's on offer. Mmm.

I have to say, I'm not a fan of Jever either, but have you tried Jever Dark[/url:d6qnjt0q]? It's not a bad drop at all!

I don't think that Jever Dark was around when I was in Germany,I'd give it a try, is it a hop bomb like it's lighter sister?
