I'll be honest, Pils is still my favourite style of beer, as soon as I sort out temperature controls you can bet your life I'll be brewing loads of it.
lager is much maligned but can be a great style, albeit mostly in germany with an educated "kellermann" but it's a good drink betimes.

Eoin, I agree with you on the Pilsner. I have one fermenting in my fridge at the moment. It was quite an involved process and it does take time but if anything it will be a good technical exercise.
I put up a post a few weeks ago about asking for some advice on lager brewing. I got one reply and that was me updating the post!
I thought I had done something wrong to the people on this forum but now realise that I said a bad word never to be used on ICB....Lager!...

Not to mention the delicious Koestritzer black lager, great stuff that is.

Lager is not a bad word at all. Nasty Mexican lager is though.

If you go to the trouble of lagering a beer make it a decent German/Czech style one.

Yeah - Ive developed a bit of a thing for black lagers lately - Koestritzer, Zeitgeist and St Bernard black are really tickling my tastebuds at the moment. I'd like to get a proper temp control fridge like Shane's set up but its a lot of time/money for something I'd probably only brew once or twice a year (I still really like me ales I do!)

Lager is like Pop Music. When it's done well it can be amazing but unfortunately the masses tend to like it more when it's done extremely badly. This is what gives the good stuff a bad name.
