Also try www.propertynews.com although www.daft.ie">www.daft.ie is my favourite, as it has a mapping interface that does actually lets you search geographically in a reasonable way, unlike MyHole.ie with its fixed zooms and not turning on property symbols till you are zoomed into such a small area it gives you poor spatial context </end rant> :)

In my humble opinion of course!

I found out today that my new employer-to-be in Dublin has decided to revoke my employment contract a mere 13 days before I was due to start! They said it was some sort of funding failure that forced them into the decision but since I'd signed the contract and resigned from my current job (losing a redundancy package in the process) I feel that I've had a rather more serious funding failure.

To say that Mara and I are disappointed by this sudden disastrous and unexpected turn of events (it was only yesterday that I booked our flights to Dublin and they were talking to me about arranging temporary accomodation for us) is an understatement. It's a whole mix of worry, anger, disappointment, frustration etc.

Unless I happen to get another job in Ireland it doesn't look like I'll be joining up with ICB after all (even though I do have a T-shirt). Attempting to think of something positive from this, all I've come up with so far is that I can re-start my brewing that was put on hold in readiness for the relocation.

If any of you happens to know anyone who has need for a chemist with a broad experience of industrial R&D (colloids, rheology, coatings, ink-jet printing, fabrics, statistics, problem-solving etc.) then please get in touch...

Sorry to hear that Les. But dont give up on Ireland yet there are a lot of Chemical / Pharma companies especially in the Cork area. I dont move in those circles but Im sure you will land on your feet ...
as a plan B you could always look for a job as a brewer ?

Ah man. What a bummer. I'm sure something will turn up, and I hope everything turns out for the best.

Sorry to hear that Les, that sounds like a really shitty deal you've just had. Not that its really going to solve the problem but I'd certainly be looking for some form of compensation from them as a result of their actions. There must be some recourse available to you.
All the best with whatever happens in the near future.

Jeez, Les. That's a disaster. I'm so sorry to hear this. It is also a loss to the ICB community (but of course, that's a lesser thing). I hope you remain with us, at least "virtually".
