I have nothing but good things to say about it actually.

Last time someone here said positive things about the pale ale, they used it in their PR.

*waves to diageo bot*

I had my first bottle of it last night and quite enjoyed it. It is no "Winter Warmer" and at only 4.5% abv it seems a bit understrength, but it is a big improvement in quality on their Pale Ale. I would buy it again. It was one of the beers in the 3 for €7 deal in Tesco.

It's not bad, a fair bit better than Smithwicks presumably that why they're only doing one batch.

[quote:e8vha8bu]only one batch of Winter Spirit has been made so stocks are limited, explained Smithwick’s Brand Manager Lisa Ronayne.

“Winter Spirit is a bit more special, a bit more premium,” she explained of the 4.5% ABV darker newcomer[/url:e8vha8bu][/quote:e8vha8bu]

A bit more premium. FFS.

Opened a bottle of this stuff now...I was a bit worried about trying this as the standard draught beer is so terrible - but it's not bad at all. The taste disappoints a bit after the malty caramel raisiny toffee nose, it goes a bit flat in the middle, but there is some nice caramel malt in the finish, some sweet raisin in there with a dunk of toasted brown bread. Certainly an above average supermarket beer, but not wow. Quite like a Scottish -/80 in a way
