Possibly has been mentioned on here before (forgive me if so), but I see that Smithwick's are to launch a new beer called Winter Spirit (Superior batch ale);

"The inclusion of extra roasted barley & hops in our new Winter Spirit makes for a sumptuous and heady ale. Coming very soon to leading supermarkets and independent off-licences!"

so it says.

Well so after PA this is the first of many derivations of major brands going to be launched, well you didn't expect them to sit back and watch Micros have it all surely <!-- s:D --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_biggrin.gif" alt="" title="Very Happy" /><!-- s:D --> , only sad thing is they have a massive marketing budgets.
I had a pint of Smithwicks at the brewery in Kilkenny before they closed it down last month and it was truly the best pint I have ever had, and a seven stage pour was done with passion, not the muck I got historically, pity really.

Think they went with "winter ale" as a name. saw it in tesco last week. they also have 4 packs, 2 winter + 2 pale

Had it at the weekend, I suspect I it just a strong verion of the standard ale
