The porter and bock were presumably Cuilan's recipes, whereas Rusty has been one of Messrs Maguire's house beers since before he worked there and is designed to compete with tourists' favourite Kilkenny.

Given that the nitro-red craze of the mid-1990s is over, it would probably be worth MM's and the Porterhouse's while dropping theirs in favour of something else.

I hear Irish Pale Ales are all the rage these days <!-- s:twisted: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_twisted.gif" alt=":twisted:" title="Twisted Evil" /><!-- s:twisted: -->

I wouldn't be for dropping the Porterhouse Red (I've not had MMs offering). Drop the nitro if they like, but I like their red.

Got my Chocolate Truffle fix yesterday. Sweeeet.

Never liked the red myself, but then I have never been that big a fan of red ales, in general. I do have a soft spot for rebel red, for some reason though.

Incidentally, I had a chat with someone in the Porterhouse North recently and apparently they go though a pin (4.5 gallon cask) of TSB in about three days.

Porterhouse Red is perhaps the best of a bad lot.

I'm very glad to hear the TSB turns over so well, though I had to go without some last Friday because the tap was dry. Bummer. I was really looking forward to a pint.

Nice to hear about the TSB. No wonder I never got a stale pint.

TBN I know you're only joking (I think), but the red, while not outstanding, is solid, and probably has a good turnover.
To drop it for an Irish Pale Ale would be bandwagon jumping of the highest order.
