I Had the Imperial stout loved it, Laphroaig is my type of scotch, it tasted very similar

As of Thursday 6/12, the Imperial is no more. Replaced by the usual Christmas offering of Jul-Ol, not really to my taste unfortunately. Also, the Plain has now been replaced by the (previously regular) Extra Stout though I wont complain about that!

Bock was replaced by Haus too, last I looked.

Was in Messrs yesterday and the Imperial Stout is back! There was a handwritten sign on the pump - "Imperial Stout, Strong, 7%, Smoked" but personally I didn't find it anywhere near as smoky as their first effort. In fact, I could find little difference, other than a dryer and roastier effect, when compared to their Extra Stout which the Imperial has replaced. Mind you, having previously had a few pints in the PH of something hoppier, my taste buds may have been compromised so I think a repeat visit is called for as soon as possible!

I found it distinctly smokey. Perhaps he eased back on the smokiness, or your tastebuds had indeed been traumatised.

I did not think the original was smoked, more a slight smoky/ashy form black malt me thinks.
