[quote:q3t5dspa]Ale just doesn't cut it in the advertising stakes. [/quote:q3t5dspa]

How come we sell more Hooker than any other product under the Banner of Irish Pale Ale ??

No point in taking on a product if you wont be true to its style.

I can hear the conversation at the bar now, "have you seen the new lager from Roscommon brewery, i wonder will it affect their Ale sales?"

A spade is a spade !

I'm glad to hear it, but I suppose I had the more beer conservative types in mind.

I can't see the word lager making a difference.

The most common question I hear in the Porterhouse (other than ou est le Guineees?) is which of your beers is most like Heineken/Bud/Carlsberg. Lager sells big time. It makes up 75% of the beer market. I'm not serious about the Porterhouse pushing Hooker as lager, but you'd be surprised how many less adventurous drinkers would try it if they thought it was a Vienna lager or something a bit more familiar.

I wonder how often that happens.

If people are looking for something that resembles the main stream lagers, they're going to be disapointed by Galway Hooker and order something different the next time. The Porterhouse's lagers do a much better job at imitating main stream lagers.
