Wasn't Time an old name that Smithwick's used? I think I read it in the recent book on Beer in Ireland.

Great. Another lager.

I'm not a huge lager fan, but they do have their place and I like one now and again. The fact that some of our views may be tainted by the "yellow fizz" shouldn't stop us trying them <!-- s:) --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_smile.gif" alt=":)" title="Smile" /><!-- s:) -->

Yes, nothing against lagers. There are some top notch lagers from continental Europe. It's disappointing when small breweries try to emulate the mainstream brands' boring products. I doubt it's a very effective way of winning over any non craft beer drinkers. Give people something different (I'm not talking about a gueueze or an imperial stout here, just something with some flavour) and they'll see what they're missing.

Sorry guys just noticed this thread now...

As the story goes... Time beer was around in the sixties and was apparently very well known but disappeared off the market for whatever reason (I'll read the bottle tomorrow in work). I've been lead to believe it’s brewed in Belgium...

As for taste, excellent observation skills Oblivious!

First thing to come to mind was a maltier version of Bud. Definitely not the most inspiring of brews I’ve tasted. That said I don't like slating a beer on one tasting so it gets one more chance to redeem itself. Try one for yourself though but I can't see this one sticking around for too long...

According to Iorwerth, Time was the brand used by Smithwick's for their beers just before they were bought over by Guinness.
